Alphabetical NES

1942 INTRO 1942 is the third game on the list and it is a really famous one. This is a game ported to nearly everything and NES is no exception. It's a port of the 1984 Capcom game which is probably the most famous Capcom game of the era. The idea is pretty simple the screen scrolls vertically pushing you forward, you move on the 2d plane with the ability to do a loop which gives a temporary exit from the 2d plane and you shoot stuff to blow them up. All these events occur in ther Pacific theater of WW2 hence the name 1942 and the goal is to reach Tokyo by clearing whole Japanese air force, a feat I have never achieved. And this is what we see when we lose all our lives/planes which starts with HI-SCORE up the screen differs from it. 10-Yard Fight INTRO 10-Yard Fight is the second game on the list. It is a 1985 clone of an American football arcade game for NES. The game is pretty simple and divided in the parts, one for defense and one for offense. While on the offensive you throw the ball, start running, pass it or not and avoid getting caught while running further. The defensive side is the opposite of this experience, you try to catch the ball carrier before reaching his destination. Here is a scene from offensive, the cyan colored player is the one that is actively controlled and it changes when you pass the ball with A or B. And here is on defense with active player trying to jump on the ball carrier, which is marked by black. The game was released both in USA and Japan in 1985 by IREM. Now as a sports game I don't think this has any depth due to its simple mechanics and design. It doesn't have much replay value since there is no change in your way of playing, no tactics besides zigzaggin...

'89 Dennō Kyūsei Uranai INTRO Due to the ' on the title this would be my first game on an Alphabetical NES games list. So here we go. I have to make it clear that I don't know japanese so this game will be a bit less inspected compared to english titles. Right after pressing start we get a screen where we put in our birthday and gender there is a selection screen for our horoscope for some periods of time, for a generation, year, month, or just a day. And there is even a romantic match option. This would be classified more as a gimmick than a proper game but I guess this was what the market wanted in Japan during at the end of the eighties. The game was released 10 December 1988 in Japan by Jingūkan Polaris and with that text heavy structure and cultural inadaptability never got a release in Europe or US. This would be a new blog with an old idea. As with any blog this starting post will be looked back at many years later and will either be seen as a dead end or a success. But today it is just a start. Years ago I found a list of games on Nintendo Entertainment System aka NES and thought the number wasn't that high. Current list I have has 1783 items and I expect nearly all of them games and some demos and such. And I intend to deliver a quick look on them and picked the easiest sorting method, alphabetical. That's how Alphabetical NES starts and hopefully continues.
